The conflict between Russia and the USA has intensified through the ongoing skirmish in Ukraine, drawing global attention and concern. The situation has escalated significantly, with both nations taking bold steps that have heightened tensions and the potential for broader conflict.

It is critical we tread lightly. In an age where we are more disconnected from reality than ever before, the countdown to midnight marches on and the footsteps seem but a distant echo. Listen, world, because once the hand streaks across midnight there is no going back.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued stern warnings to countries that allow Ukraine to use their weapons to target Russian territory. This came after Russia struck the Ukrainian city of Dnipro with a new medium-range ballistic missile, marking a significant escalation in the conflict. Putin’s rhetoric has emphasized the global nature of the conflict, particularly after Ukraine targeted Russia with missiles made in the US, UK, and France.

The involvement of North Korea has further complicated the situation. Reports indicate that North Korean troops have been deployed to support Russian forces, and North Korean technical advisers have been seen in the Russian-occupied port city of Mariupol. This alliance has raised concerns about the broader implications of the conflict and the potential for further escalation.

The United States has responded by authorizing Ukraine to use US-supplied missiles to strike deeper inside Russia, a move that has been described as adding “fuel to the fire” by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. This decision marks a significant shift in US policy and has been met with strong reactions from Moscow, which has accused the Biden administration of irresponsibility and escalating the conflict.
